The Gauntlet
Posted in Poetry 2 Comments
The gauntlet was laid down today,
For men to stand and fight.
Fight for their wives and children,
In the battle for what is right.
To fight not wars of flesh and blood,
But battles in the air.
To stand with Holy Armor on,
For He will meet them there.
The Helmet of Salvation.
The Breastplate on their chest.
The Belt of Truth around their waist.
In Him, they find true rest.
Their feet are always ready,
As the Shield of Faith they hold.
Their weapon a mighty Spirit Sword,
Equips them to be bold.
Men will stand firm in the gap,
Ready to mend the wall,
That has broken down around them,
Ever since the dreadful Fall.
Men will treat their wives so tenderly,
As they wash them with the Word.
Men will lead and sacrifice,
So their prayers will still be heard.
Men will turn hearts to their children,
So the children can then turn,
Their hearts towards their fathers,
As true love begins to burn.
Men will know that the things worthwhile,
Will cost them their very life.
Men will not seek the ease of this world,
But will dutifully face the strife.
Yet even though the gauntlet,
Was laid down today for men,
The women have a job to do,
On which men can depend.
The women must fall down, not stand,
Fall down upon their knees.
The women cry out to God for them,
With holy hands and holy pleas.
The women must respect the men,
That God has placed just so.
The women must always love the men,
So they will continue to grow.
The men hold high the banner,
That proclaims His holy name.
They act with His humility,
Never seeking fleeting fame.
They take back ground so carelessly lost,
While the Church fell fast asleep.
They will press on to the finish line,
To receive a prize they will keep.
The men leave mighty footprints,
Where their children will put their feet.
Where their wives will walk along beside,
As they separate chaff from wheat.
God is calling, Men wake up.
Women, stand beside.
Children, watch and follow.
As men lead and humbly guide.
Men walk along and follow Christ,
Never trusting on their own.
Men yoked with Christ forever more,
Until he calls them home.
See, I will send you the prophet Elijah before that great and dreadful day of the Lord comes. He will turn the hearts of the fathers to their children, and the hearts of the children to their fathers; or else I will come and strike the land with a curse.
