The Answer For A Gray World
Posted in Poetry 2 Comments
Our world today is very gray
We wonder where to turn
We have a tool, a handy sword
Our hearts begin to burn
Sitting on the table,
Held within our hands
Crossing age and gender
All across the land
The book that’s penned by God Himself
Through use of human hands
The all sufficient source
Of His loving Ten Commands
A letter He has written
That is etched upon our hearts
The promise that He’s with us
We will never be apart
The enemy loves when it gathers dust,
When its pages are not read
He loves when our heart never knows the Truth
When it stays nice and neat in our heads
He loves when it’s kept in its own little box
Pulled out only one day a week
He loves when we rest in the status quo
And don’t have the need to seek
He loves when its treasures remain only words
That apply to only this here
He’s afraid to think we might pick it up
That we might keep it very near
He’s happy when we fail to see
That it answers every need
He loves to mix his ugly weeds
Among God’s precious seeds
We cannot let confusion
Cause us to despair
We have God Himself, as Word made flesh,
And we are in His care
Take Bibles off the table
Bring them into daily life
Where we’ll indeed have trouble
But it’s momentary strife
We keep our eyes so fixed on Him
As we journey through these days
We change our focus, looking up
And live in endless praise.
All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.
(2 Timothy 3:16)
Yes, the Word of God IS the answer to a gray world, and a gray day!
Thanks, Gina
Janna,
What a blessing to study His precious Word with you, and all the women, in our Wednesday Bible study.
