Cookie Cutter People

We have all heard the expression, out of the mouths of babes…
I was remembering just how true that statement really is.
My youngest daughter was about six years old and we were reading a book together.
Our conversation went down many rabbit holes, as it delightfully does when talking and reading to a child.
The book was about springtime and we discussed the fact the God created everything and how we are so glad He did.
I turned toward the book, to begin to read again and she said,
Mommy…I know how God made me. He said let there be Molly and there was Molly!
I smiled and kissed the top of her head and told her she was absolutely right.
How very special she is to be made by God and what a wonderful Molly He made.
We continued reading…that moment was gone…but not forgotten.
How simple:
I know…
He said…
There was…
For You created my inmost being; You knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praiseĀ You because I am fearfully and wonderfully made…(Psalm 139:13,14)
God knit us.
We are uniquely created.
We are each different…each made by HIS hand.
We are NOT cookie cutter people that are stamped out on an assembly line.
My frame was not hidden from You when I was made in the secret place. When I was woven together in the depths of the earth, Your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in Your book before one of them came to be.
(Psalm 139:15,16)
We are woven…slowly…methodically…perfectly.
Have you ever watched someone knit?
Knitting needles click as the knitter meticulously make rows of loops.
As each row progresses, a new loop is pulled through an existing loop.
That secures what you just knitted.
Without that new loop, the row will unravel.
God is the Master Knitter.
He meticulously makes us.
The new loop is pulled through the existing loop of our lives.
The new loop is the Holy Spirit we receive when we come to faith in Christ.
Without that new loop, our lives will unravel.
In the Knitter’s Hand, we are secure.
How important that a child knows they are special simply because God made them.
How vital to know that they are made in the image of God.
These simple facts affect the way we view everything.
These simple facts are foundational to a culture of life.
Our current culture sees people as expendable.
The elderly are looked upon as a burden on society.
Children are seen as interruptions to your life.
Have children when you’re ready, and only have a few.
The enemy distorts and deceives…and wants us to question God’s goodness.
Why would the enemy want more image bearers of the God he despises?
As a country, we are not having enough children to replace us as we age.
Our country is growing old…rapidly.
Even the church resembles the world.
When families have children, we expand His kingdom.
Families are a great evangelistic tool, since we are living out the truth of God’s love for us before the eyes of the world.
Has not the Lord made them one? In flesh and spirit they are His. And why one? Because He was seeking godly offspring. So guard yourself in your spirit, and do not break faith with the wife of your youth. (Malachi 2:15)
I know…
He said…
There was…
As simple as that…yet profound.
Not cookie cutter people…but designed people…one at a time…for His Glory.
How special is that?
