The 12:00 Life
Posted in Evangelism Leave a comment
I wind my mantle clock, the one that has faithfully chimed every quarter hour for years.
It has ceremonially ticked away the minutes that have ushered in family birthdays, holidays, and just the daily routine of our lives.
I wind the clock, amazed that not one clock in my house says exactly the same thing.
They may be off by seconds, minutes in some cases, but none are exactly the same.
Our lives resemble a clock.
If we are in Christ, we are living a 12:00 life.
The 12:00 life believes that Jesus is the Son of God.
The 12:00 life knows Jesus as Lord and Savior and trusts in Him alone for salvation.
The minutes of the 12:00 life tick away to glorify Him.
The 12:00 life has come full circle and rests in the Sovereignty of God.
The 12:00 life is wound with prayer and time spent in God’s Word.
The 12:00 life submits to the Lordship of Christ.
The 12:00 life proclaims the truth of Jesus’ death and resurrection.
Yet, how many lives remain at 10:00?
- I believe in God…but I still have to do things to secure my salvation.
- There is more than one way to get to heaven.
- The Bible is God’s Word, but I can pick and choose what I want to believe.
- I am a good person…
How many people live a 10:00 life…knowing in their head there is a God…but never knowing Him in their heart?
How many 10:00 lives, have a Bible on their shelf, but never hold it in their hands or hide it in their hearts?
The 10:00 life believes that works are more important than faith.
Without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to Him must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him. (Hebrews 11:6)
The 10:00 life may be a good life…but it is not a complete life.
The 10:00 life has a missing piece that only Jesus Christ can fill.
It is not enough to know about Him.
You must know Him…and trust in Him alone.
The 10:00 life will only be transformed to a 12:00 life when the person trusts in the completed work of Jesus Christ on the cross.
If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation, the old has gone, the new has come.
(2 Corinthians 5:17)
God calls us to Himself.
That call is irrevocable.
We need to reach out to those who are living the 10:00 life with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
The Gospel is the only key that perfectly fits our timepieces.
I tell you, now is the time of God’s favor, now is the day of salvation. (2 Corinthians 6:2)
