The Song Of The Morning
Posted in Poetry Leave a comment
The branches heavy laden,
Their blooms touching the ground,
A lovely sight for eyes to see,
The beauty all around.
The pink of cherry blossoms,
The lilac’s purple hue,
Forsythia’s sunny yellow,
Hydrangea’s royal blue.
The smell of honeysuckle,
Or wisteria on the vine,
The budding rhododendrons,
The crocuses in a line.
The Creator’s springtime palette,
His artistry in view,
The masterpiece of nature,
Making all things new.
Such intricacy, such beauty,
All planned by God’s design,
Every inch on this whole earth,
He rightfully claims is, “Mine!”
Delicate balance, His order,
Faithful promise, His care,
Total knowledge, His wisdom,
Pure intercession, His prayer.
The world in hibernation,
Waking from its sleep,
His eye is on the sparrow,
He cares for all His sheep.
The music of the morning,
A cacophony of sound,
Every rock cries out in worship,
When what was lost is found.
Everything has come alive,
As springtime will attest,
In the gentle breeze, we hear it,
“Come to Me and find your rest.”

Springtime.
New life.
Everything waking up…giving Him glory.
Did you ever take notice of a spring morning?
Everything is alive!
The trees seem to be singing, with birds in the branches.
The frogs call out their melody searching for a mate.
The rooster at a nearby farm beckons.
Yet, there is also stillness.
The quiet of the morning.
Creation waking from its slumber.
See! The winter is past; the rains are over and gone. Flowers appear on the earth; the season of singing has come, the cooing of doves is heard in our land.
(Song of Songs 2:11,12)
Morning is a wonderful time!
A fresh slate…a new start.
A time to begin again.
Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness. (Lamentations 3:22,23)
What promise there is in the morning.
Beginning again.
“Teacher, this woman was caught in the act of adultery. In the Law, Moses commanded to stone such women. Now what do You say?” They were using this question as a trap, in order to have a basis for accusing Him. But Jesus bent down and started to write on the ground with His finger. When they kept on questioning Him, He straightened up and said to them, “If any one of you is without sin, let him be the first to throw a stone at her.” Again He stooped down and wrote on the ground. At this, those who heard began to go away one at a time, the older ones first, until only Jesus was left, with the woman still standing there. Jesus straightened up and asked her, “Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?”
“No one, sir,” she said.
“Then neither do I condemn you,” Jesus declared. “Go now and leave your life of sin.”
(John 8:4-11)
Jesus was silent as He wrote on the ground.
The stones in the hands of the accusers ready to be thrown.
Jesus disarmed them…not by force…but by gentleness.
This woman, vulnerable and alone, would have died had Jesus not intervened.
The angry sounds of stone throwing was replaced by silence and stillness.
She only had to deal with Jesus…and He did not condemn.
Can you hear it?
The symphony of a new beginning.
Starting over.
Leaving the old ways for the new ways.
Freedom from guilt.
I am sure she walked away with a song in her heart…and a song on her lips.
A song of praise and thanksgiving.
A song of new beginnings.
The song of the morning.
