Ready For Battle
Posted in Faith, Poetry 4 Comments
My hands are so uncomfortably tied,
Not knowing where to turn,
Too many issues pressing in,
Each one more a concern.
Marriage is trampled underfoot,
Life is thrown away,
Government growing so massive,
Morals in a state of decay.
Privacy now a thing of the past,
Freedoms so subtly removed,
Stripped away right under our nose,
While leaders sit back and approve.
Faith is to put in your pocket,
Never at all to pull out,
Except if in total agreement,
With whatever we can’t do without.
Voices who are not even experts,
Are lending their words to a cause,
Things are funneling downward,
We need a Holy Pause.
A pause to see God’s perspective,
A pause to catch our breath,
A pause to gather our sanity,
Lest we amuse ourselves to death.
Have we stopped and prayed to the Father?
Have we even considered the Son?
Have we sought the Holy Spirit?
Is there faith…or will He find none?
If only He’d give us some glimpses,
Of the unseen world from above,
The invisible army He gathers,
Fighting for those that He loves.
A battle is raging around us,
We already know Who has won,
We are fighting as part of His army,
The Army of Jesus, the Son.
Find your voice, oh faithful soldier.
Take your stand, oh mighty one,
Muster courage, oh tired warrior,
Until your day is done.
He’s given Divine instructions,
In sixty-six books of His Word.
Armor that’s meant to protect us,
Good News that needs to be heard.
We have nothing to fear…He is with us.
Why do we worry and fret?
He came…the Kingdom upon us,
The Kingdom of now and not yet.
Our hands ready for battle,
As we take up the double-edged Sword,
Our feet to go where He shows us,
Our Commander, Our Jesus, Our Lord.

The king of Aram was at war with Israel.
Time and time again, Elisha, the prophet who succeeded Elijah, warned the king of Israel.
This angered the king of Aram.
He thought that one of his own men was feeding information to the other side.
The king of Aram was told that Elisha, the prophet, was responsible.
“Go, find out where he is,” the king ordered, “so I can send men and capture him.” The report came back. “He is in Dothan.” Then he sent horses and chariots and a strong force there. They went by night and surrounded the city. When the servant of the man of God got up and went out early the next morning, an army with horses and chariots had surrounded the city.
“Oh, my lord, what shall we do?” the servant asked.
“Don’t be afraid,” the prophet answered. “Those who are with us are more than those who are with them.” And Elisha prayed, “O LORD, open his eyes so he may see.” Then the LORD opened the servant’s eyes, and he looked and saw the hills full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha. (2 Kings 6:13-17)
The Lord’s unseen army is all around His people.
Why then are we so afraid?
Can you see it?
You have to look with eyes of faith.
Once you catch a glimpse, you can say with surety, the words David said.
The Lord is my light and my salvation – whom shall I fear?
The Lord is the stronghold of my life – of whom shall I be afraid? (Psalm 27:1)
Then, you will find your voice.
Then, the people of God will stand together against a common enemy.
Those who are with us are more than those who are with them.
No more backing down!
In HIS power, in HIS strength, you can say “ENOUGH!”
The people of God have had enough!
AMEN!
What a beautiful post that provides a reminder that we are His. . . and despite what is happening in the world or even in our own individual situations and trials. . . HE IS IN CONTROL! What comfort and peace is ours! Thanks for posting!
Thank you, Nancy.
I need the reminder as well.
We have NOTHING to fear!
HE IS WITH US!

Wow, what a relevant poem for today! This is what happens when we move away from the Lord.
Thank you, Al.
This is one post I do believe we ALL need to ponder.
Why are we so afraid…when HE is with us!
