Radiance
Posted in Evangelism 2 Comments
Jesus called us to be the Light of the World.
So lets brighten this place up!
I read this in a Facebook post yesterday.
This young man, in his early twenties, has it right!
As believers in the Lord Jesus, we have been given salvation.
We have been given every spiritual blessing.
We have an eternal home in heaven waiting for us.
We have the presence of the Holy Spirit with us now, teaching us and guiding us.
Why do we walk around looking like we have just eaten lemons?
Why does our face not reflect His glory?
Then the Lord said to Moses, “Write down these words, for in accordance with these words I have made a covenant with you and with Israel.” Moses was there with the Lord forty days and forty nights without eating bread or drinking water. And He wrote on the tablets the words of the covenant – the Ten Commandments. When Moses came down from Mount Sinai with the two tablets of the Testimony in his hands, he was not aware that his face was radiant because he had spoken with the Lord. When Aaron and all the Israelites saw Moses, his face was radiant, and they were afraid to come near him…When Moses finished speaking to them, he put a veil over his face. But whenever he entered the Lord’s presence to speak with Him, he removed the veil until he came out. And when he came out and told the Israelites what he had been commanded, they saw that his face was radiant. Then Moses would put the veil back over his face until he went in to speak with the Lord. (Exodus 34:27-30,33-35)
Moses had a unique relationship with God.
The Lord would speak to Moses face to face, as a man speaks with his friend.
(Exodus 33:11)
The time spent in God’s presence affected Moses in a visible way.
The radiance of God’s Glory is so awesome, it spilled over to the face of Moses.
Moses came away from that time in God’s presence with a face that shone.
Spending time with the Lord changed Moses’ appearance.
The radiance on Moses’ face was not there before.
That radiance terrified the people.
They did not understand it.
The joy of the Lord is a marvelous thing!
It is noticed by others, though not understood.
It is undeniable, though seemingly unattainable.
It is contagious, though somehow frightening.
Paradoxical Glory!
We know that spending time with the Lord changes us.
Why don’t we spend more time with Him?
We walk around looking like we ate lemons instead of exuding the joy that is within us.
The joy of the Lord is contagious.
It is not something we can muster up on our own.
The joy of the Lord spills over.
It can’t help it!
The joy of the Lord, as it manifests itself in us, may offend some people.
It may make others afraid.
It may cause some people to be skeptical of our actions and our demeanor.
Spend time with the Lord!
Be splashed with His Glory!
Can you see it?
Running with your face turned upward, arms extended.
Let Your Glory rain down on me, Lord!
I want others to see You in me!
Those who look to Him are radiant; their faces are never covered with shame.
(Psalm 34:5)
Jesus called us to be the Light of the World.
So lets brighten this place up!
Amen to the amen!
AMEN, SISTER!
