Revival

Posted in Daily Living | 1 Comment

What is revival?
That word is heard in churches; it is pleaded for in prayer groups.
Webster’s Dictionary defines revival as: an improvement in the condition or strength of something; an instance of something becoming popular, active, or important again; a reawakening of religious fervor.

The words in the definition are clear.
However, as I pondered revival, I came to another conclusion.
Revival simply means saying YES.

Do I want to improve the condition of my relationship with God? YES!
Do I want to strengthen my walk with Him? YES!
Do I want a reawakening of fervor in my spiritual journey? YES!
Do I want to be more active in the things of God, and put Him first in importance? YES!

The problem with tired Christianity is not with Jesus; the problem is with you and me.
Failure to pray.
Failure to study God’s Word.
Failure to obey God.
Failure to say YES!

There is no place for tired, ho-hum Christianity!
We, who are in Christ, have surety and certainty in our salvation.
That is a reason to rejoice!
Instead we go around lifeless and moody as if the weight of the world is on us.

Actually, the weight of the world was placed on our precious Lord Jesus.
Through His death on the cross, His resurrection three days later; and His ascension to heaven, the weight of our sin was removed from us, if we come to Him in faith, and trust in Him alone for our salvation.

Revival happens when the Holy Spirit calls and we say YES!
Revival happens when God’s Word is all we need for faith and practice.
Revival happens when we turn away from sin and turn towards God.
Revival happens when we say no to ungodliness and YES to holiness.

Yes, Jesus died on the cross, rose again, and sits at the right hand of His Father.
Yes, One day Jesus is coming back to judge the living and the dead.
Yes, There is only one way to heaven and that Way is Jesus Christ, the Son of God.

Yes, only God is the Giver of life and He alone sets the number of our days.
Yes, God instituted marriage between a man and a woman.
Yes, Children are a blessing to be trained in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.

Yes, God alone deserves my worship.
Yes, God sent the Holy Spirit as a deposit guaranteeing what is to come.
Yes, if we have trusted in Jesus alone for our salvation, there is a place in Heaven for us.
Yes, we will be with our Lord Jesus forever.

Revival simply means YES!
We live in the YES of our faith!
We trust in the YES of His life, death, and resurrection.
Our life as a Christian is YES!

But as surely as God is faithful, our message to you is not “Yes” and “No.” For the Son of God, Jesus Christ, who was preached among you by me and Silas and Timothy, was not “Yes” and “No” but in Him it has always been “Yes.” For no matter how many promises God has made, they are “Yes” in Christ. And so through Him the great “Amen” is spoken to us to the glory of God. Now it is God who makes both us and you stand firm in Christ. He anointed us, and set His seal of ownership on us, and put His Spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come. (2 Corinthians 1:18-22)

No matter how many promises God has made, they are “Yes” in Christ.

Revival is simply saying YES…and trusting in Jesus Christ alone for your salvation.
How can anyone live as a tired, ho-hum Christian with such a glorious promise?

Lord Jesus, my life is Yours.
I say YES to You…and with the help of Your Spirit, I will say NO to ungodliness.
Revive my heart, O Lord!
Restore the joy of my salvation.
YES, Lord…simply, YES!
