Healing Hands

I am still in physical therapy for my back for the next three weeks.
Three times a week I am worked on, and stretched, and pushed to the limit.
It will all pay off in the end.
I can already feel the difference as I learn to move differently and lift differently.
When I go to my appointment I see many of the same people.
We all seem to be on the same schedule.
Snippets of conversation go on all around me.
Ice, heat, weights, exercise balls, treadmills, elliptical machines are used to help us.
I am becoming more amazed at the intricacies of the human body.
I am in awe of the Creator who designed us.
Every time I leave, I thank God for the physical therapist that is working with me.
Every time I leave, I am grateful to God for the knowledge he has given this man.
How gracious of God to give His creation opportunities to see the intricacies of His design.
How gracious of God to open the window of knowledge so we can peer inside.
How gracious of God to enable others to heal and repair what is broken in each of us.
Giving us the knowledge of muscles and ligaments that are forgotten until they are injured.
Think of the doctors that can diagnose an illness based on symptoms.
Think of the surgeon that can open the human body and work on parts that are unseen.
Think of the eye doctor that can determine the exact prescription so that we can see better.
Think of the nurses that tend to the most basic needs of the patient before them.
God opens up the window and allow us to see what is inside.
God opens up the mind of those who will be called on to heal.
God allows us to discover things little by little so that we are not overwhelmed.
God provides the means with which ordinary people can do the extraordinary.
In Tolkien’s book, The Return of the King, Aragorn enters the city in disguise.
The people in the city are sick because of the poison from the enemy’s weapons.
One of the city’s nurses recalls a legend of Gondor.
The hands of the king are the hands of a healer, and so shall the rightful king be known.
Only Aragorn can save those who are wounded by the enemy.
We have an even greater King.
The hands of our King are healing hands.
His Hands heal both the physical and the spiritual.
Jesus left the synagogue and went to the house of Simon. Now Simon’s mother-in-law was suffering from a high fever, and they asked Jesus to help her. So He bent over her and rebuked the fever and it left her. She got up at once and began to wait on them. When the sun was setting, the people brought to Jesus all who had various kinds of sickness and laying His hands on each one, He healed them. Moreover, demons came out of many people, shouting, “You are the Son of God!” But He rebuked them and would not allow them to speak, because they knew He was the Christ. (Luke 4:38-41)
The healing Hands of our King.
Healing us from the poison of the enemy of our souls.
Saving His people from the malady of sin that afflicts us.
Only our King can peer inside the human heart to see its true condition.
On hearing this, Jesus said, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. But go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy not sacrifice.’ For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.” (Matthew 9:12,13)
It is God who gives knowledge to the doctors so they can heal the sick.
It is God who guides the hands of the surgeon as he operates.
It is God who allows the complexities of the human mind to be slowly revealed.
It is God who grants wisdom to those that ask.
Often, we see scientists at odds with our Creator God.
We see scientists trying to prove empirically what can only be understood miraculously.
The scientist who grows closer to God because of what he discovers has come full circle.
That scientist can explain many things, but ultimately there will be “unanswerables”.
Those unanswerables will serve as a catalyst to know God better.
Those things that cannot be known must be attributed to God alone.
The realization that they are not playing God, but rather, are His servants is vital.
All they know and all they are is because of Him.
Science and God are not enemies.
Science is possible only when God opens the window of knowledge to the human mind.
God, in His grace and sovereignty, reveals a little more of who He is.
This knowledge should bring us closer to Him, not farther away from Him.
The hands of our King are healing hands.
Our King graciously extends some of that knowledge to His creation.
They in turn will help others all to His Glory.
The poison from the enemy’s weapon will one day hurt no more.
The Rightful King is known by His Healing Hands.
