A Pink I Can Celebrate
Posted in Motherhood 7 Comments
Every day, there is some sort of communication on our family thread.
News, check-ins, and funny stories someone saw or read are shared.
Often, when my phone is on silent, I will check it later to see that there are 20 texts.
A whole conversation happened while I was away from my phone.
Early morning is best, since everyone is likely to see the text in real time.
The other morning a text came that I cherish.
My children have nicknames for each other: their initial and part of our last name.
The baby my daughter-in-love is carrying is affectionately called, Baby B-Gall, after his daddy.
I saw that the text was a video.
The caption read: Baby B-Gall says, Good Morning.
I clicked on it to view.
My heart leapt with joy.
It was a short video of my precious grandbaby moving inside his/her mommy’s belly.
I watched the video, mesmerized.
I was so touched by the sweetness.
Hello, sweet baby, I said to the screen.
We all witnessed the miracle of life in that short video.
We watched her belly move as the baby kicked inside her.
It made my morning, and I told her so.
How sweet that she took the video for all of us to see.
My son and his wife do not know if the baby is a boy or a girl.
Baby B-Gall is so very loved.
This precious baby is loved from the very beginning.
This baby is a part of our family already; we cannot wait to meet him or her.
The joy I experienced over the sweet video was desperately needed.
Just the day before, New York State passed a law.
The law was celebrated and received a standing ovation.
The law is evil; the standing ovation celebrated murder.
On the 46th anniversary of Roe v. Wade, the New York State Senate voted 38 to 24 to pass the Reproductive Health Act into law—a law that codifies the Roe decision into state law.
But it goes much further than that. The new law, signed by Governor Andrew Cuomo, greatly expands the availability of late-term abortion. Previously the law had limited abortion to up to 24 weeks. Proponents of the bill say this “decriminalizes” a women’s “choice” to have an abortion. But the grim reality is that abortion—the killing of a child in the womb—is now legal in many instances up until birth in the State of New York.
Science shows us definitively that life begins at conception. Even further, advances in technology have enabled babies born as young as 22-weeks old to survive outside the womb. To allow the killing of a child up until the moment of birth is not just barbaric and evil—it is anti-science.
But this, according to many in the State Capital in Albany, was a reason to celebrate. Applause filled the Senate chamber as the bill passed. Governor Andrew Cuomo even had the One World Trade Center in New York City lit up in pink to mark the occasion.

I was watching my grandbaby move inside the belly of my daughter-in-love.
Under New York’s new law, my grandbaby could be killed up until his/her birth.
That killing is perfectly legal in New York.
That killing would be enthusiastically celebrated among the lawmakers.
To see the pink spindle on the top of the One World Trade Center hurt my heart.
On that site, 2,753 Americans lost their lives on 9/11.
That site is the burial place of those who lost their lives the day we were brutally attacked.
On that same site, murder is now celebrated with a glowing pink spindle.
January 22, 2019, was a sad day for New York.
January 22, 2019, was a sad day for our nation.
But, God…
God, the author of life, has the final say.
Sometimes, people need to be awakened from their slumber.
People need a jolt of reality, no matter how bitter that reality tastes.
Celebrating murder with a glowing pink spindle in the sky is grotesque.
A writer for the New York Daily News expressed her feelings boldly.
I am an independent. I am pro-choice… But I draw the line at parading this law around like it’s a circus, This is not the passage of abortion rights, but the permission to commit infanticide and call it by another name. An eight-pound baby can survive outside the womb with very little medical aid. (Lisa Fogarty, New York Daily News)
My daughter-in-love is a float pool nurse in a city hospital.
She works in maternity, NICU, and pediatrics at the hospital.
She sees babies born prematurely.
She sees the great lengths the medical teams go to save the precious life of a baby.
Babies born as early as 22 weeks can survive outside their mother’s womb.
The New York law advocates killing a baby up until birth.
If the abortion is botched in some way and the baby is born alive, the baby can be killed.
Under this law, my natural mother would have had the right to kill me at any time.
I just taught Bible study this past week.
We were discussing the sacrifices demanded by the pagan gods.
The god, Molech, demanded the sacrifice of children.
Babies were thrown into the fire as an act of worship to Molech.
This child sacrifice took place in the Hinnom Valley.
The constant screams of the infants needed to be drowned out.
They came up with a solution.
A constant beating of drums would drown out the infant’s screams.
Fire continuously burned there.
Babies continuously screamed there.
Drums continuously beat there.
The Hinnom Valley, would be used as a trash dump and became an image of hell.
I recently learned something about the Jewish culture we read about in Scripture.
Jews would never go into a Gentile home because it was unclean.
Dietary practices made it unclean for the Jews; however, there was another reason.
Gentiles practiced abortion; the Jews considered the Gentile home to be a tomb.
This is not a political issue.
This is an issue of humanity.
No decent human being can justify the killing of a baby up until birth.
We must put a face on this issue.
Begin to call the child in the womb, a BABY.
Put the face of your child or grandchild on the baby that is to be killed.
See the infant born alive after a botched abortion and then killed anyway.
Then, look towards the pink spindle in the sky and celebrate.
When you celebrate, hear the screams.
When you celebrate, hear the drums.
When you celebrate think of the 2,753 people who are buried underneath that spindle.
Then call the law what it is: MURDER.
I have watched and re-watched my precious grandbaby kicking inside his/her mother’s belly.
I see my daughter-in-love’s pink shirt as it moves with the baby’s kicks.
THAT is a pink I can celebrate.
Life is to be cherished and protected; the sanctity of life is not determined by location.
Now two prostitutes came to the king and stood before him. One of them said, “Pardon me, my lord. This woman and I live in the same house, and I had a baby while she was there with me. The third day after my child was born, this woman also had a baby. We were alone; there was no one in the house but the two of us. During the night this woman’s son died because she lay on him. So she got up in the middle of the night and took my son from my side while I your servant was asleep. She put him by her breast and put her dead son by my breast. The next morning, I got up to nurse my son—and he was dead! But when I looked at him closely in the morning light, I saw that it wasn’t the son I had borne.” The other woman said, “No! The living one is my son; the dead one is yours.” But the first one insisted, “No! The dead one is yours; the living one is mine.” And so they argued before the king. The king said, “This one says, ‘My son is alive and your son is dead,’ while that one says, ‘No! Your son is dead and mine is alive.’” Then the king said, “Bring me a sword.” So they brought a sword for the king. He then gave an order: “Cut the living child in two and give half to one and half to the other.” The woman whose son was alive was deeply moved out of love for her son and said to the king, “Please, my lord, give her the living baby! Don’t kill him!” But the other said, “Neither I nor you shall have him. Cut him in two!” Then the king gave his ruling: “Give the living baby to the first woman. Do not kill him; she is his mother.” When all Israel heard the verdict the king had given, they held the king in awe, because they saw that he had wisdom from God to administer justice. (1 Kings 3:16-28)

Yes, this needed to be written….thank you, Gina. What is our country coming to, to permit a viable baby to be killed. There are many couples who desperately want a child; why not allow the baby to be adopted?
Agreed, Sue. There are many couples who would Joyfully adopt a baby who cannot be cared for by his/her mother. Adoption is such a wonderful option.

Kathy,
I am grateful to my son and his wife for allowing me to share this precious video with so many. This needed to be written, since it is such an obvious contrast between life and death. Someone else mentioned that they thought they saw a face as well. Blessings, friend.
