The Sound

Posted in Salvation | Leave a comment

There is a cricket in my house.
I hear him.
I know it is a him, because only male crickets chirp.
Male crickets chirp to get the female cricket’s attention.

I do not know how the cricket got into my house.
I do not know where the cricket actually is when he chirps.
The sound of his chirp is deceiving.
It sounds like it is over here and then it sounds like it is over there.

Learning about the cricket’s song made me wonder if a female cricket is also in my house.
The sound. that is lovely on a summer night, is not so lovely in my home.
The sound that signifies summer is quite annoying when I am sitting quietly reading a book.
I want to find that cricket.

I think there is a mouse or two in our attic.
As soon as the weather starts to get chilly, I will hear them.
This is the time of year my husband sets traps in the attic.
He sets the old fashioned wooden traps with a bit of peanut butter.

I cannot look if a mouse is caught in a trap.
My husband goes up to the attic to check and dispose of the trap.
I want the mice to stay outside.
I do not want them to make nests in our attic.

I hear the squirrels scurrying up our house.
They feast on the walnuts that drop from the large tree on our front lawn.
They crack open the walnuts on my side porch and on my upstairs balcony.
I hear them knocking the hard shell against the surface.

With the walnut in their mouth, they scurry up the side of the house.
I hear their little feet.
I hear them knocking over and over to get to the nut inside.
The sound is a little disconcerting.

This activity is to be expected when you live surrounded by woods.
These sounds are part of country living.
I still wish the cricket and the mouse would stay outside.
I still wish the squirrels would travel on the ground instead of on our house.

For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God. (1 Thessalonians 4:16)

One day, a trumpet will sound.
Every eye will see the Lord Jesus.
Every knee will bow.
On that day, some will bow in adoration and worship; others will be compelled to bow.

On that day, the sound of the trumpet will be a sound of rejoicing.
Those who are in Christ will rejoice to see His glorious appearing.
For others, the sound of the trumpet will be deafening and terrifying.
Putting their hands over their ears will not stop the sound from being heard.

Those who are not in Christ, will want that trumpet sound to stop.
They will want to go anywhere else so they will not have to hear that sound.
There will be nowhere to go.
On that day, when the Lord Jesus returns, the trumpet will announce His coming.

I want to find that cricket.
I hear the sound but I do not know where he is.
On the last day, everyone will hear the sound of the trumpet call of God.
On that day, everyone will know from where the sound is coming.

Come to the Lord Jesus in faith.
Then you will rejoice when you hear the trumpet sound of God.
One day , He will return.
Maranatha. Come Lord Jesus.
