Do You Hear It?

Posted in Salvation | Leave a comment

A company in Wales has invented The Mosquito.
This Mosquito is not the insect that bothers us in summer.
That has already been created.
This Mosquito is an anti-loitering device.

The Mosquito is a patented device that resembles a small speaker.
It produces a high frequency sound much like the buzzing of the insect it is named after.
Set to 17 KHz, the Mosquito can only be heard by those 13-25 years old.
Set to 8 KHz, the Mosquito can be heard by all ages.

Many cities are using this device on their playgrounds and in their businesses districts.
Nighttime is usually when vandalism and destructive behavior happens.
This device, set at 17 KHz, keeps the age group away that seems to be causing the problem.
The devices are being installed along with cameras, for additional security measures.

The system is designed to cut off at twenty minutes; it has four types of volume selections.
The human ear responds to a range of pitches.
However the range gets smaller in the higher pitches as we age.
This is known as presbycusis.

The Mosquito has attracted controversy on the basis of human rights.
Critics complain that this device discriminates against young people.
Supporters argue that vandalism harms municipalities and businesses.
Vandalism has a negative effect on everyone.

Playgrounds, stores, and private property are targets for vandals.
The stores suffer losses to their business and their customers are driven away.
The municipalities do not always have the money to replace playground equipment.
This device is a deterrent; the vandal has the opportunity to run away.

A tone in the high frequency range is now being downloaded to young people’s cell phones.
This download allows them to hear their cellphones when parents and teachers cannot.
No one ever thought that something like this would be available as a ringtone.
The official Mosquito ringtone has taken off in popularity.

It amazes me that many sounds cannot be heard.
A tired mother laments that her husband never hears the baby cry at night.
A frustrated parent complains that their child never hears them when they call.
A teacher is perplexed when the instructions that were just given are not heard.

Inability to hear is a scientific fact.
Inability to hear is a spiritual fact as well.

Then Jesus left the vicinity of Tyre and went through Sidon, down the Sea of Galilee and into the region of the Decapolis. There some people brought to him a man who was deaf and could hardly talk and they begged Him to place his hand on the man. After He took him aside, away from the crowd, Jesus put His fingers into the man’s ears. Then He spit and touched the man’s tongue. He looked up to heaven and with a deep sigh said to him, “Ephphatha!” (which means, “Be opened!”) At this, the man’s ears were opened, his tongue was loosened and he began to speak plainly. Jesus commanded them not to tell anyone. But the more He did so, the more they kept talking about it. People were overwhelmed with amazement. “He has done everything well,” they said. “He even makes the deaf hear and the mute speak.” (Mark 7:31-37)

The man was physically unable to hear.
Jesus miraculously healed him.
Healing the deaf, the blind, the lame and those with evil spirits, were signs of the Messiah.

Strengthen the feeble hands, steady the knees that give way; say to those with fearful hearts, “Be strong, do not fear; your God will come, He will come with a vengeance; with divine retribution, He will come to save you. Then the eyes of the blind will be opened and the ears of the deaf unstopped. Then the lame will leap like a deer, and the mute tongue shout for joy.” (Isaiah 35:3-6)

Your God will come!

Jesus, the Son of God has come.
Jesus, the Son of God will come again.
When He comes again, everything will be restored.

There will be no more excuses.
There will be no more laments.
There will be no more frustration.

Every eye will see Him on that day.
Every knee will bow, either voluntarily in worship or involuntarily on command.
Your God will come!

Are you ready to see Him?
Are you able to hear His voice?
One day the trumpet will sound.
Will you hear it?

He who has ears, let him hear. (Matthew 11:15)
