Did you send your cards?
Did you wrap the presents?
Finding boxes was hard.

Did you hang your stockings?
Did you trim the tree?
Did you bake some cookies?

There Is No Room

There is no room, was often said.
The couple searched for some soft bed.
Where their long awaited baby’s cry,
Would pierce the silence of the sky.

But the sky rang loud with angels white,
Who announced the birth in dark of night.
To a sleeping town with sleeping hearts,
Unaware of what God would start.

Sovereign Over Mishaps

I have a head cold.
Nothing major…just enough to keep the tissues handy.
Watery eyes that look like I’m crying…lots of sneezing.
It is inevitable this time of year.

I should learn by now, however.
Each year I begin to do Christmas shopping in the fall.
I like to get everything done by the beginning of December.
I never like that hectic feeling…or the rushing around.
I try to space everything out and pace myself a bit.

The Branch

There is something so beautiful about a Christmas tree.
The fragrance…the ornaments…the memories.
When I was a little girl we always had an artificial tree.
I promised myself, when I had my own home, we would have only real trees at Christmas.

For thirty one years, we have kept that promise.
There is a bit of maintenance though…watering…vacuuming up the needles that fall.
For me, it is still worth it!
