Window Dressing

Remember the old game of Red Light Green Light?
Someone was “it” and turned their back on the rest of the players.
The players moved slowly towards the person who was “it”.
Red Light…the person would call.
The players would have to freeze in position.

If you were caught moving…or could not freeze in position, you had to go back to start.
The player who reached the person who was “it” won the game.

Highway For Our God

Did you ever take notice of the amount of trucks on the road?
We see them daily in our travels.
Depending on the road we are driving on, we may see more trucks than cars.

The morning is incredibly busy if you are a truck driver.
Trucks with roof trusses, meticulously packed like puzzle pieces on the back.
Trucks that have rolls and rolls of playground cover material…ready for little feet.

God Promotion

I see Buster every morning on my walk.
He is a beautiful Bernese Mountain dog.
He came to the family as a puppy.
He was spirited and playful.

His family installed an electric fence so Buster has over two acres where he can safely run.
He and I have the same morning schedule.
He comes outside with the oldest daughter as she waits for the school bus.
She always gives him a few tosses of the Frisbee until the bus comes.

Curb Appeal

Posted in Evangelism | 4 Comments

You would almost miss it as you drove down the road.
Tucked back a bit, with overgrown hedges, and a dilapidated picket fence.
Situated right on a curve in the road…a curve that demands your attention.

I didn’t see the house…I saw the sign.
FOR SALE.

For all intents and purposes it seemed like a normal For Sale sign.
Except it wasn’t.
This sign was vastly different.

Going Viral

So many possible videos,
Which ones shall we see?
Star Wars kid? Talking twins?
Again…Charlie bit me?

People from all over,
Watch others they don’t know.
Do silly things, or tender things.
See places they might go.

Camouflage

I was sitting at a traffic light waiting for the light to turn green.
It was beautiful day.
I looked at the large tree that was on the corner right next to my car.
There it was…on the tree.
A cross.

You could hardly see it!
Two rough pieces of wood nailed to the trunk.
You would easily miss it, since it blended in so well with the bark.

Nonsense Or Understanding

I have many seasonal flags.
I change them frequently for various holidays and occasions.
Birthday flags, hearts for Valentine’s day, shamrocks for St. Patrick’s day.
I enjoy the whimsy…as they flap softly in the breeze.

I had a flag out this past week that I inadvertently hung backwards.
Often when flags have words, the words are written on both sides.
This enables you to hang them either way.
This flag was readable on one side only; the other side was written in reverse.

We’ll Leave The Light On For You

We’ll leave the light on for you!
It was said in the first recording session for Motel 6.
This was an ad-libbed line spoken by Tom Bodett, their first and only spokesperson.
This one line has been the trademark of the longest, and the most successful advertising campaign in history.

I always loved that line.
I imagine a candle in the window…a lamp warmly beckoning.
Come on home!
You’re welcome here!

Meeting Needs

I saw my neighbor this morning when I was out walking.
It was very cold and I was bundled up quite well.
I am so glad my coat has a hood because it keeps my neck warm.

My neighbor and I caught up a bit.
She had a cute wool hat on her head.
I told her how much I liked it.

GAP

I received a text from a dear friend yesterday.
Verses of encouragement.
She began her text with…GAP on this magnificent Monday!
It must be a typo I thought…but I couldn’t figure out what she really wanted to type.

I am always teased about my texts…because I am one of THOSE people!
I text complete sentences…I use punctuation and capital letters.
I never use abbreviated text language!
I thought that GAP must have been short for something, but I had no idea what!
