Bubble Gloves

My youngest daughter is home sick today with a fever.
A dear friend checked in with me to see if there was anything I needed at the store.
It was so sweet of her…but I had already gone food shopping…while my daughter slept.

I remember the days when I couldn’t do that.
Days when my children were too young to be left alone.
I was never a big temperature taker when they had a fever.
A mother knows when her child is sick.
Their eyes don’t dance!

Do Overs

It snowed this past weekend.
My husband and I were supposed to go to our high school reunion.
Since the roads were slippery, and we were not plowed out, we had to miss it.

In the animated version of the story, Pinocchio is brought to life by a fairy.
The fairy tells Pinocchio that he can become a real boy if he proves himself to be brave, truthful, and unselfish.
Pinocchio also has to be able to tell right from wrong by listening to his conscience.

Power Washing

My husband spent a lot of time power washing this weekend.
He purchased a small machine at one of the local home improvement stores.
It was the perfect fall weekend to tackle this project.
Once he got started…and saw the results…he kept going.

I am so grateful to him for his hard work.
Our walkways, our deck, our deck railings, our porch…cleaner than they have ever been!
It is hard to believe what accumulates over time.

Pulling Weeds

I was weeding this morning after I got back from my walk.
I try not to wait until the job is insurmountable.
I tend to pull weeds when I see them.

I am not a person who likes to be in the sun, since I sunburn very easily.
I am a “get things done in the morning, before the heat of the day” kind of person.
Typically, I prefer my shady porch to the sunny deck.
