A Unique Ceremony Of Unity

Posted in Marriage | 4 Comments

My youngest daughter got married last weekend.
She married her best friend.
She married someone who was part of their same friend group in college.
They had not dated until after they graduated.

They were just friends for the longest time.
The summer after graduation, my daughter was a mercy ministry intern in Philadelphia.
Soon we heard that this young man came to visit her a few times.
Just friends was beginning to change into more than friends.

To Be Found In A Crowd

Posted in Faith | 2 Comments

It was the day of the sprinkle shower for my daughter-in-love.
She is due with her second child in a few weeks.
Her friends did all the planning.
I was delighted to be a part of her special day.

I have often heard the same “wish” at bridal showers.
It would be so nice to have another shower to replace sheets and towels.
It is always said tongue in cheek, but if truth were told, those sentiments are slightly true.
It would be nice to replace those kind of things a few years into your marriage.

Two Bouquets

Posted in Daily Living | 4 Comments

I went into the little market.
I stop there weekly to pick up a few organic things I purchase there.
I could go through the market with my eyes closed.
I know where the things are that I routinely buy.

I can zip in and out in less than ten minutes.
It’s not that I’m on a time crunch.
I just that I know what I want and where to find it.
I know the cashiers from my frequent visits there and they know me.

Safe In My Arms

Posted in Faith | 2 Comments

We went to our daughter and son-in-love’s church for Easter.
It was an opportunity to be with three of our grandchildren.
Our oldest daughter was there as well.
It was a smaller group than we are used to, but still so wonderful to be together.

My granddaughters were in their Easter dresses with little button down sweaters.
I saw their dress shoes and remembered the days when my daughters were similarly dressed.
Downstairs, near the entrance, there was a tray of Easter cookies.
My almost two-year-old granddaughter was happily biting a cookie that looked like a baby chick.

The Bent Knee

This Whisper was originally published in March, 2013.
I am taking a few days off during this Easter time to be with my family.
May you have a Blessed Easter, pondering the Lord Jesus, the spotless Lamb of God.

Anyone with more than one child knows that there is an ongoing, friendly dispute.
I’m Mom’s favorite!
Through the years I have heard that numerous times, from some more than others.
I truly think that each child secretly hopes that they alone will hear those words.
Those special words, that set them apart from the rest.

A Packet Of Seeds

Posted in Faith | Leave a comment

I have a packet of seeds.
They came in a box with other items.
They came as part of an online conference I attended virtually this past October.
It is the conference I usually attend in person, but like everything else, it was put on hold.

Tickets for this year’s creativity conference went on sale last week.
I didn’t even try to obtain one.
All the people who had tickets in 2020, when everything shut down, are now able to use them.
There was only a handful of new tickets available for this year’s conference.

The Innocence Of Children

Posted in Discipleship | 4 Comments

Life as an adult can be so hard.
We know too much.
We see too much.
We hear too much.

Life as a child should be so much simpler.
It should be carefree.
It should be filled with beautiful things.
It should be filled with wonder.

Learning To Show Grace

Posted in Poetry | 2 Comments

This poem was originally published on September 19, 2014.
It was needed then. It is needed now.

I am learning to show grace,
Every day a little more,
Each and every situation,
Never knowing what’s in store.

The days I learn to hold my tongue,
And keep my eyes from rolling.
The days I go the extra mile,
Keep away from all controlling.

The Saga Of The Pants

Posted in Salvation | 2 Comments

My husband and I were getting ready to go out to dinner.
We would be with others at the table.
I chose to wear a new pair of black ankle pants.
They were hanging in my closet but I had never worn them before.

I picked a shirt, shoes, and purse to complete the outfit.
I was ready a few minutes after I said I would be downstairs.
I felt rushed that night.
My husband wasn’t rushing me; it was something inside me that felt rushed.
